BridgingApps just published the following BridgingApps Reviewed App on the site:
Sago Mini Farm is a fun app for children to use to explore activities and animals associated with a farm. The app has colorful animations and entertaining music and sounds that respond to the child touch and drag movements. There are no words or written instructions within the app so all communication will be provided by the child or the adult working with him.
This app was reviewed with preschool and young elementary children with autism and developmental delays. They were able to use the app with very training. They were engaged with the characters and enjoyed making different things happen to the animals. The therapist used the app to practice the skills of following directions, understanding of spatial concepts, using actions and describing words. The children with more verbal skills were able to make a short story about one of the characters as they played, practicing their sequencing skills.
Sago Mini Farm is highly recommended for preschool and young elementary children with special needs as a teaching tool and as reinforcement for skills learned in therapy.
