Narwhal App

BridgingApps just published the following BridgingApps Reviewed App on the site:

Narwhal is an Android app that allows someone to control a Windows computer running the NVDA screen reader and the NVDA Remote add-on. The acronym stands for Nonvisual Android Remote Windows Handy Access for All. As the name suggests, this is primarily meant for those familiar with both NVDA and NVDA Remote. The app does not transmit visuals, only text which is converted to text-to-speech on the Android device. The advantage is that you save a lot of data compared to most remote apps which send audio and video.

  1. Hello,
I\’m the Narwhal developer, thank you for this review. I think it\’s the most detailed one I\’ve read to date, and it explains some things even better than me.
Another option of hearing the computer sound is soundwire. Also, you can push the computer clipboard to the phone with ctrl+shift+nvda+c, useful if you found a youtube clip on the net and wish to view it on the phone for example. I\’m also thinking of adding a way to select another text to speech engine than the default one.
