BridgingApps just published the following BridgingApps Reviewed App on the site:
Half My Plate, developed by the Southern Nevada Health District with grant money from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, tackles an important part of tracking food intake in a simple way without any distracting extra bells and whistles. The “half your plate†mantra comes from health promotion initiatives recommending that one half of your “plateâ€, i.e. meals, should be comprised of fruits and vegetables. It’s an excellent message encouraging increased consumption of plant foods. And, in the complicated world of translating nutrition research findings, this message is clear: eating fruits and vegetables as part of an overall healthy diet has health benefits. Many benefits. From reducing the risk for heart attack and stroke to protecting against certain cancers. With further benefits such as lowering the risk of obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure the public health message is also strong. Eat more fruits and veggies! The Half My Plate App is a welcomed simple tool that hones in on fruit and vegetable intake goals.
