What’s happening, Houston TX Local Meeting?

What do catching colorful fireflies, flinging bees, and rolling buttons have in common? They are just a few of the features contained in the app “Bugs and Buttons” highlighted at the BridgingApps Open House in February 2012. As part of this quarterly series, participants come to learn more about mobile devices, like the iPad and Android devices and how to use them with people who have disabilities.

Therapists, parents and teachers volunteer to sit at “stations” with their list of favorite apps and demonstrate them to visitors. Children and their parents, young and old, learned about communication with Proloquo2Go, improving visual tracking with Bugs and Buttons, and practicing multiplication with Multiplying Acorns. Participants explored a variety of cases and accessories at the Hardware Station and learned more about how to make the iPad safe and accessible for all types of users.

Join us at our next monthly meeting! BridgingApps meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 4500 Bissonnet, Suite 337, Bellaire, Texas 77401. For more information contact creat@eastersealshouston.org.
