BridgingApps just published the following BridgingApps Reviewed App on the site:

IEP Says is a web-based mobile friendly tool that helps parents understand an Individualized Education Program (IEP) by translating complex information into plain language. Users upload an IEP and in minutes receive a summary, recommendations, and information about goals, services, and areas that may be missing. It then builds a personalized meeting guide for your child that can be downloaded and printed to ask questions and prepare for your next meeting.

It is a powerful use of AI to scan large amounts of complex language full of acronyms and summarize into plain language, which is a must-have for parents and caregivers of kids with disabilities trying to navigate the IEP process. It was especially helpful in identifying goals, services and information that may be missing. It organizes recommendations for preparing for the next IEP meeting into five key domains: learning, communication, social and emotional, sensory and motor, self-management. It allows parents to personalize the IEP guide based on concerns and questions, then download it and/or print it to help prepare for meetings. It includes helpful and relevant resources including, email templates for communicating with schools, an IEP glossary and educational articles about all aspects of the special education process. Having all of this captured in one place is efficient.

Most impressive is that it includes state-specific information about the IEP process, parental rights and a built-in chat feature for questions about the uploaded IEP.

The tool was created by a parent of a child with a disability who experienced the pain points of navigating the process and leveraged AI to empower parents.
