Duckie Deck Trash Toys is a captivating app that allows users to create their own virtual robots from recycled materials. Users can choose from a variety of everyday disposable objects such as straws, springs, CD’s, soda cans and much more. This app is a great way for those who struggle with complex fine motor tasks, who may not otherwise be able to manipulate materials to make real life trash toys. It allows these users to explore their creativity in a virtual workshop with literally the touch of a finger.
Like other Duckie Deck apps, the interface is simple and easy to use, making it accessible to even the youngest users. In addition to inspiring creativity, Trash Toys is a wonderful example of upcyling and can inspire children to reuse and recycle in everyday life. This app can also be used in group settings, especially within preschool classrooms (where the app was trialed), to promote teamwork and sharing (e.g. every student gets to add a piece to the toy).
