BridgingApps Austin Local Meeting: Be My Eyes

BridgingApps Austin local meeting discussed apps for organization and executive functioning.  After reviewing the apps we had a student from Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired test the apps using Voiceover to see which were the most compatible for his needs.  We found that Wunderlist and Remember the Milk both worked well using Siri and Voiceover.  Click here for a complete list of apps that were discussed at the meeting!

We also discovered a new app called “Be My Eyes”.  This is a crowd-sourced app that partners a person with vision to a person who is blind or visually impaired using video chat. The person with sight tells the other user what he/she sees. For example, the person who is blind or visually impaired would ask “What color is this shirt?” and the volunteer would answer “Blue”.

In February the BridgingApps Austin local meeting will be presenting at the EdTech Meetup.  Come join us as we will be discussing accessibility features and tools that can aid people with disabilities.

Our regular meeting will resume on Wednesday April 1st.
