Expansion Pilot Reports, Wrapping Up 2025: Report #3, Easterseals Crossroads

BridgingApps is wrapping up the first year of our Expansion Pilot project, which introduces Easterseals affiliates across the country to our App Search Tool and to apps we recommend for Easterseals clients. This week, our 2025 affiliates share about their learning experiences and future plans.

For today’s post, we interviewed Easterseals Crossroads, which serves central Indiana.

Q: What influenced your Easterseals affiliate to join the Expansion project?

A: We already had partnered with BridgingApps for many years, through our INDATA Project. So we were excited to help raise awareness of BridgingApps’ tools through our Digital Literacy Program. We meet with individuals to help them gain computer skills and knowledge to reach their goals: it was a perfect fit.

Q: What did you initially hope to get from the Expansion program? Where were your expectations surprised or exceeded?

A: We hoped to raise awareness throughout our agency on how BridgingApps can help the consumers [clients] served by every Easterseals Crossroads program. The Expansion meetings exceeded our expectations, providing us an even deeper understanding of BridgingApps, the Search Tool, and some of the amazing apps out there. Plus, all of the work that goes into app reviews.

Q: What helpful app(s) were introduced that, before, you had no idea existed?

A: Morphic was a great tool to learn about: it directly addresses a need we commonly see with Digital Literacy Program clients. Nearly all digital devices have built-in accessibility settings; but many consumers don’t know that these exist, or how to find them. Morphic’s “toolbar” organizer creates easier access to the accessibility features, especially for clients who struggle with navigating the settings menu.

Q: What are some other valuable things you learned? How will these benefit your clients?

A: Access to the BridgingApps database [App Search Tool] has provided increased awareness of the options, and made it easier to find app-based solutions to whatever individual needs may arise.

Q: How will your affiliate continue building on what you’ve learned?

A: BridgingApps will always be an asset to the Digital Literacy Program at Crossroads, helping identify apps and other resources to assist clients in their various needs.
