Celebrating the summer season can be full of excitement, new adventures and steps toward independence by trying new things like camp or play groups.  In the July/August issue of Parenting Special Needs Magazine (pg. 42) BridgingApps co-founder Cristen Reat offers app suggestions that aid with the transition into new routines and activities that come with the season.

iLoveFireworks is a great app for reward and just plain fun. This app allows children to adult to create a single firework or a multitude of fireworks. Students can also play the firework app with music running in the background. This app increases fine motor skill for single finger touching or a user can use of any part of the hand to create fireworks.

Storehouse – Visual Storytelling is a mobile app that touts the collage-like functionality of Pinterest with the social media popularity of Facebook. Geared towards young adults, this app is ideal for the teenage population that it was trialed with. Users capture their ‘stories’ by combining photos, text, videos etc. into professional-looking montages that can then be shared online with other Storehouse members.
