BridgingApps Fort Worth Hosts Their First Local Meeting!

imageBridgingApps Fort Worth met for the first time on April 9, 2014 from 6-7 p.m.

It was a diverse group that included parents (with kids ranging in age from preschool to adult), speech therapists, special education teachers, representatives from disability-related organizations, and tech support staff.  Marilyn Tolbert, the director of lab schools at Texas Christian University (TCU), welcomed everyone and provided information about the purpose of the group.  Sue Anderson, a professor of special education and technology at TCU, gave a brief presentation, with an overview of the BridgingApps website and the Insignio search tool, and then examples of two apps that could be used for multiple purposes (StoryKit, Inspiration).  For the rest of the time, participants were able to explore iPads, apps, and accessories (cases, styluses, headphones, etc.), as well as talk with each other.  We are looking forward to our next meeting (TBD)!
