Apps and The Arts

unnamed-2At the BridgingApps Austin local meeting there is consistently a give and a take for everyone that attends. For us this month’s “take” was learning about how The Arc of the Capital Area is using iPads with a variety of apps at their Arc of the Arts Studio. This program allows artists to create their artwork in many different mediums and to professionally show and sell their artwork. Representing the studio was Ann Wieding, Art Program Manager. Ann explained how people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are using different apps to create art, make short movies, edit their movies, create portfolios, and sell their work. This was inspiring because it is yet another area of life that people with disabilities have more access to because of mobile devices.

To learn more about BridgingApps and how the Arc of the Arts are using mobile devices come visit us at our Open House on September 24th from 6-7:30pm. For more information follow the link!
