Start a Local Meeting

Thank you for your interest in starting a BridgingApps local meeting.  

We are committed to sharing information in a learning community about how to use mobile devices with people who have disabilities as well as assist you with information and resources you will need in order to make your meeting a success. All BridgingApps meetings are centered around providing information to the community about how to use a mobile device with a person with a disability. Below are the steps required to start a local meeting in your area.  We look forward to working with you!

Read through the following materials:

Define or determine the structure of your BridgingApps local meeting.

  1. Are you an established Non-profit (ex. Easter Seals, UCP,…)
  2. Newer Non-Profit or related For-Profit
  3. No Structure…for example a “parent group”

Find a minimum of 2 people committed to lead meetings (refer to Job Description in Step 1) and designate an IT resource.

  • Tell us how often you would like to lead a BridgingApps meeting? (ex. Monthly, Quarterly...)

After reviewing your BridgingApps Questionnaire a call will be scheduled between BridgingApps and the potential meeting leaders.[/li]

You will begin the application process. An application will be sent to you and BridgingApps will run a background check. Upon approval a contract will be signed and there will be a $500 annual membership fee.[/li]

BridgingApps will help you launch your first meeting. We will send you a BridgingApps Local Meeting Kit to help you get started. Going forward you will be required to blog about your meeting, add important dates to our calendar, conference in on a management meeting that will be monthly or based on the frequency of your local meeting. If you do not have your professional certification, one of your meeting leaders will be required to go through our TCEA Mobile Device Certification within the first 2 years.[/li]
